1200 GARAGE 1200 BROADWAY 1
1200 Broadway
Tennessee is experiencing significant growth in its electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, fueled by strategic partnerships and substantial investments. A key driver is the "Fast Charge TN Network," a collaborative effort between the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC). This initiative has rapidly expanded the state's public EV charging network, which boasted over 2,000 public charging ports as of December 2024. This total includes nearly 600 fast chargers, with the state seeing a remarkable 60% increase in fast charger additions in the year leading up to June 2024.
The "Fast Charge TN Network" is strategically focused on deploying fast charging stations every 50 miles along major interstates and highways, aiming to alleviate "range anxiety" for EV drivers. By September 2025, the program had facilitated chargers at 35 operational sites, forming a 400-mile loop that connects major cities like Nashville, Knoxville, Cookeville, and Chattanooga, where drivers can find chargers approximately every 34 miles. Future plans include adding around 65 new charging locations. Funding for these expansions comes from various sources, including allocations from the Volkswagen Diesel Settlement Environmental Mitigation Trust, federal Highway Infrastructure Program funds, and TVA's commitment of up to $40 million over five years.

There are currently 1,000 EV charging stations in Tennessee, including Tesla Superchargers, ChargePoint, Electrify America, and other networks. This number is growing as new stations are deployed through the NEVI federal program and private investment.
Tennessee has Level 2 chargers (240V, ideal for daily charging at 12-80 miles/hour) and DC Fast Chargers (DCFC) that can add 100+ miles of range in 20-30 minutes. Connector types include CCS, CHAdeMO, J1772, and Tesla NACS. Use Charge Map USA's filters to find the right charger for your vehicle.
Some Level 2 charging stations in Tennessee offer free charging, particularly at shopping centers, hotels, and municipal locations. Use Charge Map USA to browse stations across 159 cities in Tennessee and check individual station details for pricing information.
