Utah is experiencing significant growth in its electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, with over 900 public charging stations as of October 2025, including nearly 800 Level 2 chargers and 155 DC fast charging stations. Tesla also contributes substantially with 34 Supercharger stations and 352 Supercharger ports across the state. This expansion is largely driven by federal funding through the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program, which is providing approximately $36 million, combined with private investment, to significantly increase the state's fast-charging capacity. This initiative is projected to double the state's fast-charging capacity by the end of 2024 with 15 new sites, the first of which opened in Moab in June 2024.
The state's EV charging infrastructure plan prioritizes major transportation corridors to ensure access to DC Fast Charge (DCFC) EV chargers at least every 50 miles. Key highways like I-15, the primary north-south artery, have seen expanded charging options in towns such as St. George, Cedar City, Provo, Salt Lake City, and Ogden. I-70 is also a focus for EV charging development. Furthermore, by the end of 2024, EV owners are expected to have access to fast chargers along US-6 and US-191, with Tesla having already built a Supercharger network along US-191.
While urban centers like Salt Lake City and St. George currently have the highest concentration of charging stations, smaller cities and rural highway segments are rapidly becoming electrified. From 2021 to 2023, DC fast-charging ports in Utah increased by 38%, and Level 2 charging ports increased by 7%. This growth is crucial as EV registrations in Utah have risen significantly, from 8,000 in 2019 to over 16,500.

There are currently 963 EV charging stations in Utah, including Tesla Superchargers, ChargePoint, Electrify America, and other networks. This number is growing as new stations are deployed through the NEVI federal program and private investment.
Utah has Level 2 chargers (240V, ideal for daily charging at 12-80 miles/hour) and DC Fast Chargers (DCFC) that can add 100+ miles of range in 20-30 minutes. Connector types include CCS, CHAdeMO, J1772, and Tesla NACS. Use Charge Map USA's filters to find the right charger for your vehicle.
Some Level 2 charging stations in Utah offer free charging, particularly at shopping centers, hotels, and municipal locations. Use Charge Map USA to browse stations across 115 cities in Utah and check individual station details for pricing information.
