The state has achieved "full build-out" for EV charging along its federally-designated Alternative Fuel Corridors, including Interstates 25, 80, and 90. This milestone, largely supported by private investment, now allows federal National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program funds to be redirected towards non-interstate routes. Between 2021 and 2023, Wyoming experienced a 40% increase in direct current fast-charging (DCFC) ports and a 39% rise in Level 2 charging ports, contributing to its leading position in chargers per EV nationwide.

Future growth in Wyoming's EV charging network will primarily focus on highways leading to key tourist destinations such as Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, and Devil's Tower National Monument. Highways like US-89, particularly in the Jackson Hole region, are seeing substantial investment, including a $5.5 million grant for new publicly accessible Level 2 and DCFC stations. The state has been allocated approximately $26.8 million in NEVI funding over five years to incentivize private industry and local governments to develop charging stations in these critical non-interstate areas. This strategic shift aims to mitigate range anxiety for both residents and visitors, supporting Wyoming's vital tourism industry.
